Maximizing Mountain Agriculture Project (MMAP)

This programme is supported by The Hans Foundation and Himmotthan in amalgamation with Mount Valley Development Association (MVDA). With this program we are aiming at empowering the women of Uttarakhand by providing technical & soft skills training in garment production and up-scaling agro based livelihood opportunities to improve their income.

At present the program is being implemented at Tehri-Garhwal district.

Objective

  • Productivity Enhancement of mountain specific selected crops.
  • Innovation: Establishment of seed villages, community seed bank and mini storage infrastructure.
  • Critical support irrigation
  • Farm mechanization, post-harvest and setting up of agro-enterprise.
  • Strengthening of the community institutions, cluster federations.
  • Capacity Building of the farmers

Deliverables by MVDA

  • Distribution of farm machineries worth of 8 lakhs from the Agriculture Department.
  • Collection of 45 quintals of Basmati rice under Ujjawal Swayatt Sahkarita and linked to the market.
  • Production of rice and wheat increased by 50- 60 percent with 518 farmers.
  • Quality wheat seed production with 60 farmers in 5 villages.

Education and Sports Initiatives (ESI)

This project aims to demonstrate a model for delivering quality pre-school and elementary education in government schools while also introducing sports as one of the main components.

This project aims to demonstrate a model for delivering quality pre-school and elementary education in government schools while also introducing sports as one of the main components. For improving the education standards in these regions, it is important to come up with right kind of interventions, intentions and application to create a change in perception.


At present the IIMPACT learning centres are at 3 districts Uttarkashi, Tehri-Garhwal and Haridwar.

Objective

  • Improve quality of care and education resulting in enhanced secondary school readiness.
  • Increase role of reading, writing and numeracy in Primary Schools through strengthening of early literacy practices.
  • Improve in learning levels in Language and Mathematics.
  • Improve quality of teaching learning in the classroom by building capacity of teachers, improving classroom process and curriculum.
  • Increase role and involvement of the community institutions in improving school functioning.

  • Prepare School Development Plan
  • Capacity Building of SMC’s regarding RTE.
  • 15 school level libraries to be established and training on library management.
  • Capacity Building of the team and teachers.

Girl Child Education Programme (GCEP)

This programme is an initiation of IIMPACT with support from Mount Valley Development Association (MVDA). With this program we aim at providing primary education to the girl child.

  • Single-teacher led Centre imparting Primary-level education using a Multi Grade Multi Level approach at IIMPACT Learning centers.
  • Through girl child education programmes we encourage enrollment of girls to receive a firm grounding in primary education.
  • Capacity Building of teachers and staff through training programs.

Deliverables by MVDA

  • Expansion of learning centers in four major districts of Uttarakhand.
  • Reinforcement of library and science module with Agastya Science Kit.
  • Increase in attendance.
  • Implementation of new teaching methods such as JodoGyan, which is a Teaching Learning Material (TLM) based learning about mathematics
  • Operating remedial classes for 6- 14 years old students, studying in 1st to 6th standards.
