Central Himalayan Livestock Initiative (CHLI)

This programme is supported by Himmotthan and Tata Trusts, in amalgamation with Mount Valley Development Association (MVDA). With this program we are aiming at enhancing livelihoods through farms, non-farms, and forest based activities, livestock, market development, sustainable water availability and use, sanitation and Natural Resource Management(NRM).


At present the program is implemented at Tehri Garhwal district.

Objective

  • Promotion of Livestock based enterprises.
  • Enhance livestock production system.
  • Promotion of farm/non-farm activities.
  • Skill enhancement and Institution building.

Deliverables by MVDA

  • Convergence of 43 lakh rupees under MGNREGA for cattle feed and fencing.
  • Rise in income of Para-vets through artificial insemination.
  • 30 women are employed through Umang Swayat Sahakarita, a women federation.
  • Improvement of 1073 livestock and breed.
