Access to quality healthcare remains a significant challenge for people living in the remote mountain regions of Uttarakhand. Difficult terrain, scattered settlements, limited healthcare infrastructure, shortages of trained health professionals, and inadequate awareness often prevent communities from receiving timely and quality healthcare services. Women, children, older persons, and other vulnerable groups are disproportionately affected, leading to preventable illnesses, delayed treatment, and poorer health outcomes.

Our Approach

MVDA works to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem through a community-centred approach that complements government health systems and improves access to quality healthcare in underserved areas. We empower local health volunteers, promote preventive healthcare, strengthen health awareness and referral systems, and leverage digital health solutions to improve continuity of care and last-mile service delivery.

MVDA addresses these interconnected challenges by promoting climate resilience, environmental conservation, and sustainable natural resource management.
